Srinagar, Mar 06: In the ongoing Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter-college Cricket Tournament being played at the Islamia College grounds, the Degree College Baramulla became the first team to enter the quarter finals by defeating Degree College Charar-e-Sharif by 115 runs on Saturday.

Before the start of the match, the players and the officials were introduced to Dr. Tariq Ahmed Ganai, Head Department of Management Studies Islamia College. After winning the toss, Baramulla decided to bat, amassing a total of 241 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 26 overs. Momin Lone scored a blistering 79 runs in 38 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes, while Imran Nabi contributed 59 runs in 45 balls. For Charar-e-Sharif, Tahir Ahmed took three and Shakir Shafi two wickets.

Chasing a target of 242 runs, the Charar team lost early wickets and never looked to be in a serious position to chase down the total, losing the match by 115 runs. Tanvir with 25 and Bilal with 21 runs were the prominent scorers, while for Baramulla, Yasir Sheikh took four and Sakib Shafi took three wickets. Momin Lone was adjudged the man of the match.

On Monday, GDC Sopore will play against Engineering College, Zakura campus. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education Islamia College in memory of the ex-Principal, Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
