Work on cancer hospital to be started after Eid: Dr Darakshan Andrabi
Leads major cleanliness drive at Makdhoom Sahib &Dastigeer Sahib Shrine ahead of Eid

Srinagar, July 09: Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Waqf board Dr Darakshan Andrabi on Saturday said that the work on the much-awaited cancer hospital is going to be started very soon and its foundation stone will be laid after Eid.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cleaning drive at Makdhoom Sahib Shrine Dr Andrabi said they have identified the land which is to be demarcated and work on that will be started after Eid-Ul-Adha.
“Land has been identified for the construction of Cancer hospital and after the Eid work on the much-awaited project is going to be started," Dr Andrabi said.
Speaking about the cleanliness drive at the shrine, Dr Andrabi said that the purpose of the cleanliness drive is to keep these religious places neat and clean.
She said that drive was organized in collaboration with J&K Fire & Emergency Services & Srinagar Municipal Corporation and has issued orders to all the administrators in J&K to undertake cleanliness drives at all shrines under Waqf management so that we are ready with a clean atmosphere for Eid prayers at all locations.
"We urge upon people not carry rice or other eatables as that is being thrown openly at shrine lawns, within a couple of weeks we are issuing fresh guidelines for shrines management to ensure continuous cleanliness at all shrines," she said.
Waqf Board Chairperson added that the system of offerings and donations was being corrected to stop all proliferation of these funds so that we can upgrade facilities at our shrines from the funds donated by the public at shrines.
Earlier, the chairperson Waqf board announced the construction of the Cancer hospital, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha appreciated the decision of the Waqf Board to establish a Cancer Hospital in J&K and expressed hope that many such public welfare initiatives will be undertaken by Waqf in the future.
On the occasion, the chairperson Waqf board Dr Andrabi was accompanied by various officials.
