Srinagar May 25: Peoples’ Conference (PC) senior vice-president and former minister Abdul GaniVakil Wednesday demanded comprehensive compensation to the orchardists and farmers who suffered heavy losses due to recent heavy hailstorm.
A party statement said that Vakil while visiting many villages of Rafiabad, which include Dazna, Pazalpora, Kangroosa, Zethan, Pakhwara, Yarbug and Rawoocha, expressed serious concern over the damage caused to apple blossom and other standing crops due to recent heavy hail storm.
Vakil alleged that whenever natural calamities cause damage to the fruit and crops, the worst affected are assured compensation and even surveys are conducted but no relief reaches them.
Former Minister urged the UT government to go for immediate assessment of damages to fruit and disburse financial relief to the affected families without any delay as they have already suffered heavy losses. Waiving of the KCC loan is the need of the hour at this crucial juncture which can be helpful to a great extent in reviving the fruit industry which is in shambles and strengthening the fruit grower, Vakil added.
Vakil also expressed serious concern over the worst condition of Roads especially from Dangiwacha to Pazalpora and said the government is totally ignoring demands of people which include repair of roads & waving of KCC loan to fruit growers.
