Union Health Ministry deploys medical professionals from Central, State govts to assist pilgrims

Sets up two 50 bedded hospitals at Baltal, Chandanwari

New Delhi, June 30: Centre took various initiatives to facilitate the pilgrims coming to Kashmir for Amarnathji Yatra, officials said.
Shri Amarnathji Yatra which commenced from today will conclude on 11th August 2022.
The officials said that as the directions of Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and  Fertilizers officials, the Ministry informed the state governments about the arrangements along with medical preparations including services of specialist doctors, as well as general duty medical officers (GDMOs) required to supplement the efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Government, particularly by those States from where large numbers of pilgrims were arriving.
The officials informed that for attending medical emergencies, health professionals including doctors and paramedics have been deployed in batches.
The deployment of the first batch commenced from 25th June 2022  and it would continue to work till 13th July 2022, said the officials.
It was further informed that the second and third batches would start from 11th July 2022 - 28th July 2022 and 26th July 2022 - 11th August 2022 respectively.
It was also revealed that the medical professionals are being deployed from Central Government hospitals and Central Government Health scheme (CGHS).
The officials informed that the government of J&K through the Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) had requested for 155 medical personnel (87 doctors, 68 paramedics) from Central Government Hospitals and CGHS.
176 nominations (115 doctors and 61 paramedics) have been received from the Central Government Hospitals and CGHS and their complete list was communicated to DHSK for further deployment, said the officials.
They further informed that the medical professionals (doctors and paramedics) are being deployed from 11 states and UTs.
The Government of J & K through the DHSK had requested for 437 medical personnel (154 doctors, 283 paramedics) from 11 states and UTs (Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra).
In total, 433 nominations (214 doctors and 219 paramedics) have been received from 9 states.
“Deployment of 428 medical personnel (211 doctors, 217 paramedics) has already been made by DHSK for all the three batches,” the officials said.
The two 50-bedded hospitals have been set-up at Baltal and Chandwari by DRDO through the funds provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The indoor facility is getting prepared through Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The officials said that for the two 50 bedded hospitals an additional requirement of staff (129 each from UT of J&K; and from MoHFW) was requested from DHSK. The surplus buffer manpower available with MoHFW [through the Central Government Hospitals and CGHS and those nominated by States] was provided to the DHSK for further deployment, revealed the officials.
Besides, the ministry also prepared comprehensive information, education and communication (IEC) material for Amarnathji Yatra 2022 and shared it with stakeholders for necessary action. 
The IEC material is full of brief Do’s and Don’ts for the pilgrims in English and Hindi languages so that they could go through the material easily.
Besides, training of trainers programme for high altitude emergencies was also conducted at Dhobiawan, Kashmir from 4-6th May 2022
It was informed that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also been working with other ministries to make it a hassle-free darshan for the devotees and making the overall Yatra a grand success.
