Srinagar, Aug 13: In a rare endearing event, three men have accomplished the feat of biking from Naranag to Gangabal covering a distance of more than 30 kilometers of rugged terrains.
Er. AAshiq Nabi from Duderhama Ganderbal, Dr. Aadil Rasool from Hazratbal Srinagar, and Evan Shimron from Mumbai, Maharashtra completed the task in just 10 hours. Retracing the eccentric yet alluring paths of the North-Western Himalayas, the team became the trailblazer of the momentous event.
It takes physical stamina, strength, and a capable mountain bike to navigate the trails. It is about maneuvering a mountain bike through rugged terrain and around trails. Though the trail from Naranag to Gangabal followed by another trail from Sonamarg to Nichai was quite difficult but we achieved our target,” said Aadil Rasool.
The team started their two-wheeled odysseys from Ganderbal by dint of their modified geared bicycles. Ashiq, Aadil and Evan straddled Marinda big 9 300, cube 100, and Psynyde Furan respectively.
Stating it to be one of the most exhilarating experiences as well as one of his best experiences ever, Evn Shimron, a drummer and a professional mountain biker said, “It was truly worth every moment. Riding mountain bikes on hike routes, who would've thought that this couldn't get any better?
The climbs were to be very hectic and heavy, as we ground up the hill for hours. Walking through the steep routes carrying our bikes, dragging and some riding uphill, we were ultimately blessed with beautiful meadows and a lot of open trails to ride on.
The whole experience was a combination of maximum effort and maximum fun. Every day was a new opportunity to experience someplace different, someplace exciting, sometimes scary, most of the times new features, beautiful trees, ever-flowing rivers, beautiful nomadic tribes, and never-ending paths."
“Why it would not be anything less than heaven, Evan asked.
