Traffic resumes on Jmu-Sgr NH after remaining shut for several hours

The Srinagar Jammu National Highway (NH) opened again on Friday morning for vehicular movements after landslides and mudslides had blocked the road at several places.
“Traffic was suspended during the night hours due to multiple landslides. However, the men and machinery were working on it and the road was through in the morning,” SSP traffic Ramban said.
Stranded vehicles from last night and two conveys of Yatra being cleared, the official said.
“Jammu-Srinagar NHW made through (single way), stranded vehicles are being cleared. SSG Road closed for vehicular movement in view of maintenance and repair of Zoji La axis. However, traffic plying on Mughal road smoothly @JmuKmrPolice,” tweeted J&K Traffic Police.
“Earlier landslides and mudslides have triggered the closure of NHW 44. However, the restoration work took some hours and the road was again made motorable,” says a traffic official.
