Terrorist killed, three forces personnel injured in Baramulla encounter: Police

‘Injured personnel out of danger’

Srinagar, July 30: Police on Saturday said that an unidentified terrorist was killed and three forces personnel were injured during an encounter in Wanigam Bala village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A senior police officer said the slain terrorist’s dead body was retrieved from the encounter site. Police indentified the slain terrorist as Akhtar Hussain  Bhat Alias 'Abid Bhai' son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Trich Kupwara in north Kashmir. He, as per police, had joined Jaish e Mohammad outfit on July 16.
“Two Army soldiers and 1 policeman were injured also injured during the operation and their condition is stable as they are being treated at the hospital,” he said.
The police officer said Army’s sniffer dog named Axel was also killed in the gunfight. “To track the location of terrorists, two sniffer dogs fitted with bodycams were sent inside the target location but the terrorist fired indiscriminately toward these dogs and one was killed on the spot,” he said.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said acting on specific information generated by Police regarding presence of a terrorist in village Wanigam Bala area of Kreeri in Baramulla.  “It was followed by a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (29RR) & SSB (2nd Bn) in the said area,” he said.
During the search operation, the spokesman said, as the joint search party approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter
“In the initial exchange of fire, 02 Army Jawans and a police personnel received injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment. In the encounter one terrorist was killed,” the spokesman said.
He said that police have recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK-47 Rifle, 03 AK-Magazines, 07 AK-rounds, one pouch and one bag from the site of the encounter. “All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, “he said.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and an investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
 
 
 
 
 
Two hybrid terrorists held in Sopore: Police
 
Police on Saturday said that they along with security forces arrested two hybrid terrorists of Lasker-e-Taiba(LeT) outfit in Sopore.
 
The arrested were identified as Tariq Ahmad Wani son of Late Bashir Ahmad Wani  and Ishfaq Ahmad Wani son of Ali Mohd Wani  both residents of Old Airfield, Rangreth Srinagar.  
 
 A police spokesman said based on specific input about movement of terrorists, a Joint naka was established by Police along with Army (32RR) and CRPF (92Bn) at Hadipora Rafiabad in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha.
 
" During checking, the joint party intercepted two suspicious persons coming from Lorihama link road towards Haddipora who on seeing joint naka party tried to escape from the spot but were tactfully apprehended," he said.
 
As per police, during the search, 2 pistols and 2 pistol magazines along with 11 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
 
"Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are hybrid terrorists of proscribed terrorist organisation LeT and were in constant search of an opportunity to carry out attacks on security forces and civilians" the spokesman said.
