Srinagar, June 28: Senior CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami Tuesday accused the central government of using strong-arm tactics to allegedly muzzle the voice of those who expose its false propaganda and hate speech.
Zubair had been playing a crucial role in debunking the fake news and misspeak since he founded the Alt News, the statement said.
“It is very unfortunate that journalists like Zubair, who highlight the truth and hold mirror to the government are being witch hunted and booked under flimsy charges while the hate mongers are roaming freely,” he added.
The Central dispensation wanted to create a smokescreen by peddling lies and misinformation merely to hide its failure on a host of counts including political and economic, Tarigami said.
CPI (M) demands the immediate release of Zubair and warns the government of refraining from browbeating the journalists and curbing their right to free speech, the statement said.
