Pulwama, June 28: Many students and their parents from a village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district appeal to authorities for reconsidering mass transfer of teaching staff from government upper primary school Jandwal.
A student who identified himself as Murtaza Farooq from Jandwal told that he didn’t attend his school on Monday.
“All teachers of our school have been transferred at once, I want my teachers back, “he said, adding that they were having eight teachers and all of them were transferred.  He said that the decision to change all teachers at once is not good for the students.
Abdul Rashid Sheik, a resident of Jandwal School, said that villagers have admitted their kids into the government school after getting them discharged from private schools.
He said that eight teachers were deputed to the school and authorities transferred all eight of them at once.
“The authorities should have transferred the teaching staff members in intervals,” he said, adding that they pleaded before concerned chief education officer for reconsidering the decision but he didn’t pay heed to their pleas.
“We request deputy commissioner Pulwama to look into the matter and redress our grievance,” he said.
The CEO Pulwama said that the decision was taken after receiving complaints against the teachers by deputations from the village.
“The decision was taken in consultation with concerned zonal education officers and other senior officers in light of complaints with respect to the functioning of the school,” he said.
He said that the complaint is not against one but all the teachers who were posted at the school.
“We received complaints that they were doing everything other than teaching,” he said, adding that the nature of the allegations were grave.
He said that these are two schools clubbed together. “The new teachers who have been deputed to the school are more experienced and comparatively competent,” he said, adding that it is normal for teachers to get transferred from one place to another.
