Srinagar roads to be macadamized by the end of July

Srinagar, July 04: The authorities on Monday said that all the dilapidated and damaged roads in Srinagar will be macadamized by the end of July.
Providing details, the Chief Engineer, Department of Roads and Buildings, Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq told Rising Kashmir that we faced some issues but now we allotted the tender and the work is going on from June 30.
“We have started our services to areas like Jehangir Chowk, Nishat, SKIMS, Qamarwari, Parimpora, hawal and we provide good quality of macadamization on these roads and also other areas will be covered in coming days.As per our deadline, we have to fix all the roads which come under our department by the end of this month,” he said. 
In Srinagar city,there is a total of 1758 km road length and out of that 1394 km are looked by Srinagar Municipal Corporation and rest 407 km which include mostly the main roads are managed by R&B.
A resident of Bagh-I- Mehtab,Nayeema said that their area is full of potholes.She also said that authorities should look into this matter and macadamize the roads as soon as possible.
“Our department will take up city roads and macadamise them accordingly. It will remain our priority to provide hassle free movement to travellers, by the end of this month, all roads will be macadamized,” the CE R&B said.
