Srinagar, June 26: Taking a dig at regional political parties for ignoring Chadoora assembly constituency in respect of development, the senior political leader Er. Zaffar Mir on Sunday said that NC and PDP like parties misused the governance for personal gains only.
Speaking at a day-long workers convention in central Kashmir’s Chadoora, BudgamEr. Zaffar Mir lambasted previous regimes who governed Jammu and Kashmir since 1996. He said since the way was paved for political activities in the valley soon after the uncertain situation of the 1990s, the regional political parties misused the power and remained confined only to fill their treasures.

“Like other parts of the valley, the Chadoora assembly constituency was comprehensively neglected in terms of development and those in power misused the governance for personal gains”, he said.
He alleged since the last twenty-one years of politics, neither NC nor PDP addressed the public grievances in their respective areas. “The regional political parties utterly failed even in providing basic amenities to common people”, he asserted.
He accused MLAs of NC and PDP for ignoring pain and agony of the local population, saying “They misused the power and chair for their personal gains and left the common masses into a chaotic situation”.
He said the people in the constituency are deprived from basic services like good health and power infrastructure, road connectivity, water supply, etc.
“I am even surprised that Chadoora town does not have Girls Higher Secondary school as our daughters have to board on from Chadoora to Nagam village to get education”, he said and added, “During previous regimes, the traditional political parties have miserably failed to establish a single technical education centre in the constituency”.
He maintained that the historic lift irrigation scheme Marvel was the dream of former minister and Congress leader Late G M Mir (Lasjan). “This was commissioned for the interest of agricultural land through which thousands of kanals of land right from River Jhelum to Kamchapora, Chadoora is being irrigated.
During his address, he criticized PDP for forming a coalition with BJP. “PDP formed a coalition with BJP and did not show any concern to the aspirations of the local population. Similarly NC also ruined the political structure of J&K and paved way for instability and uncertainty in the region”, he asserted.
He, however, urged the workers to spread out the mission of the party among masses and be ready for the upcoming assembly election. “I will contest the upcoming elections in J&K. I emphasize upon my party workers to reach out to people and disseminate my mission and vision for the larger interest of people”, he said.

He appealed to LG led administration to reconsider the invoking of PSAs on youth and given them a chance to live a peaceful life. “If a youth is booked against less charges that should be revisited and will be given a chance to live a straight forward life. Those youth who are in prison should be counseled and released”, he added.
He also appealed to LG administration to take tangible measures in de-silting River Jhelum and ensure the safety of flood prone areas along with the embankments of water bodies in times of emergency.
He appreciated LG administration for taking up four water supply schemes under JalJeevan Mission that will be completed in next six to eight months in Chadoora assembly constituency.
