Baramulla, Jun 25: Protests erupted at Boys Higher Secondary Schools Botingoo and Dangerpora, Sopore in Baramulla district after the administration issued a warrant against the Principal of these schools for allegedly not complying with the magisterial orders regarding sparing technical staff for digitization of land records.
The protesting students carrying banners and placards called for the action of issuing the warrant by Tehsildar Dangerpora uncalled for and an attack on the dignity of the Principal.
"The warrant against a reputed educationist, the Principal of an institution for no fault of his, is against the ethics and uncalled for. This is highhandedness of law enforcement agencies. We now appeal to the worthy Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, to take notice of the issue and take strict action against the officials who attacked the dignity of the principal," the protesting students said.
An official said that several departments in the district have been looped in together for digitisation of land records and assistance from a few educational institutions from Dangerpora Sopore was also sought.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Principal HSS Botingoo Sopore Mohammad Mustafa Bhat while commenting on the issue said that the administration on one hand is apologizing for the act while as on the other side are maligning my position and the school staff.
“The administration sought our help in digitisation of land records and we have one computer-knowing teacher who is right now teaching computer sciences to around 150 students. How can I relieve such a teacher for so many months and put the studies of students at stake? I called my superiors and they ordered me not to relieve the teacher. The action from the administration is completely uncalled for,” he said.
He further added that let administration allow teachers to teach the students instead of involving them in other works.
“The administration should at least understand how to communicate with a school principal and how genuine it is to issue a warrant against a school head for none of his fault. I appeal to the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Sehrish Asgar to take notice of the matter and take necessary action against the erring Tehsildar Dangerpora,” the Principal said.
Earlier the authorities had assigned the job of digitisation of Jamabandies on a war footing basis and issued an order vide No.118/0P/DNGR/2022 dated 23/06/2022 for deputation of computer knowing officials from education Institutions within the territorial jurisdiction of Tehsil Dangerpora, Sopore.
Tehsildar Dangerpora, Malik Asif, told Rising Kashmir that all the Heads of the Institutions complied with the orders except Principal Hr. Secondary School Botingoo / Dangerpora.
“The Principal Hr. Secondary School Botingoo was called telephonically as well as conveyed through ZEO Dangerpora to attend the office but he showed lackadaisical approach and didn't comply with the magisterial orders. I respect every single academician, every teacher of the society and I personally called Principal HSS but he never responded back.”
“Other heads of schools shared their problems with us and we exempted them from such job but the said Principal never communicated any such issue with us. He never received our calls and never called back. Why should an educationist bring ego in between official matters," Tehsildar Dangerpora said.
While commenting on the issue, ADC Sopore, Sajad Parvaiz, said that strict action will be taken against those affecting the peaceful environment.
“Anyone found instigating the students for protests will be dealt with accordingly. Digitisation of land records is going on a war footing-basis and whole man power is being used in the process. The said Principle was requested to provide technical staff, computer knowing staff but he isn't adhering to the orders. If the teachers of the school stick to the protests, they will be suspended with immediate effect," ADC added.
