Soldier, terrorist killed during counter-infiltration operation in Tangdhar sector: Army

Srinagar, July 08: A soldier and terrorist were killed after a major infiltration bid was foiled in Tangdhar sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a senior army official said.
The official told Rising Kashmir that the army has foiled a major infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector. In the operation, one unidentified terrorist was killed and one army jawan was injured who later succumbed to his injuries.
The slain Army man was identified as Jasvir Singh who had received multiple injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The official said the army paid rich tributes to Singh who laid his life for the country.
The official said infiltrating terrorists were carrying a huge quantity of arms and ammunition. One infiltrator was killed in the operation. “We have recovered AK-47 rifle, 4 pistols, 3 AK-47 Magazines, and other documents were recovered from the slain terrorist, he said.
“The group was tracked with the help of night vision devices and other counter-infiltration gadgets deployed along the LoC and intercepted by the Army as they entered the Indian side at Tangdhar sector,” the army official said.
He said searches are underway until the whole area is sanitized.
