Baramulla, May 27: Hundreds of youth recruited under the Rehbar-e-Khel (physical education) scheme on Friday staged a protest outside Deputy Commissioner’s office in Baramulla demanding their regularization and revocation of Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to re-advertise the posts.
The Jammu and Kashmir Rehber Khel employees under the leadership of Syed Aijaz held a protest against the government's decision to re-advertise the posts, saying that the move would reduce the chances of regularisation of employees recruited under the scheme.
Syed Aijaz, President of Rehber-e-Khel Association Baramulla said that the order issued by the General Administration Department has shocked the employee fraternity and has jeopardized the services of employees who were engaged on merit in various departments.
"The government should have regularised Rehber-e-Khel employees because we have been working in the department for many years. Whatever work the government wanted from us, we did it selflessly. We even rendered our services during the pandemic but now they (the government) wants us out. We will stay put here and sacrifice our lives if they do not roll back the order,” said, Syed Aijaz.
The protesting employees said as per the policy, they were supposed to be regularised after serving the probation period of 7 years but government's decision to unfreeze these posts is unjustified and unfortunate as these employees have worked in the department for a long time and were waiting for redressal of their legitimate and genuine demands.
The protesting employees were joined by Vice President of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Saleem Sagar, District President JKTF Baramulla Ishfaq Ahmad Shah, General Secretary JKTF Baramulla Farooq Hussain Dar and other members.
The EJAC members urged the LG, Manoj Sinha to have a sympathetic approach towards these highly specialised, professional and qualified teachers and formulate a comprehensive regularization plan in favour of these employees so that they can live a dignified life.
The protesting employees later on dispersed amicably.
