Regional Provident Fund Commissioner holds interactive-cum-awareness programme at Kishtwar

Kishtwar,July 07: Employees Provident Fund Organization, (EPFO) J&K on Thursday conducted an interactive cum awareness programme here at Conference Hall NHPC Colony Kishtwar on registration process and benefits of social security schemes and insurance schemes of EPFO for the welfare of contracted, outsourced, and other part time employees engaged bygovernment departments and private organisations.
In the begining HOP DulHasti Project M K singh,HOPKiru HEP Rajinder Prashad, HOP Kawar RajanJairath besides senior officials of NHPC & CVPPPL welcomed Rizwan Uddin, Regional PF Commissioner.
During the programme the P F Commissioner Rizwan Uddin gave a detailed insight about the EPF & Miscellaneous Provisions
Act, 1952.
The Commissioner elaborated in detail the provisions of Employees' Pension Scheme 1995 and Employees Deposit Linked Insurance scheme,1976 especially responsibility of
departments / Organizations in registering process of their employees.
The process of registration of employees by Principal Employers on the online
portal of the EPFO was threadbare discussed in the programme.
The Commissioner stressed all the concerned Departments and Executing Agencies to ensure that all contract and outsourced employees engaged under various Govt departments directly or indirectly are registered on mission mode basis in the district in time bound manner.
He said that contractors executing works under different Hydro Electric Power Projects and various govt departments like RDD,PMGSY, R&B, Jal Sakhti, KPDCL, etc. should be registered employees under EPF & MP Act, 1952 so that their social security is ensured and they are benefitted financially in case of need.
As per the act, it is the duty and responsibility of Principal Employer to register their employees and EPFO also provides a link in EPFO website about
registration of Principal Employer to register the contractors engaged by the said
departments,he said.
Commissioner on the occasion asked departments and HOPs of HEP to make concrete efforts to ensure registration of employees with EPFO schemes so that more and more people are covered under the schemes.
He also addressed to various issues faced by contractors in EPFO portal.
Representatives from various contractors including, JP Associates, AFCONS, PES Pvt Ltd, Voith Hydro Pvt Ltd, Patel Engineering etc were also present in meeting.
Pertinent to mention that as per the Act, if any employee becomes EPF member, member automatically get
membership of EPF pension scheme,1995 and EDLI scheme,1976.
If any member dieswhile in service, the nominee/widow/widower will get pension lifelong along with 2 children up to the age of 25 irrespective of their marital status and the nominee will get maximum benefit of Rs.7.5 Lakhs under EDLI scheme. There are other pensions provided under the scheme as per eligibility of membership like superannuation, early
pension, disability pension, orphan pension, widow pension and nominee pension.
The Commissioner provided whatsApp helpline numbers ( for Jammu 6006567049) and (for Kashmir 7780813099) and said the helpline is available to get any advice or to clear any doubt for larger benefits of society, especially the poor labour class.
Later, PF Commissioner held an interactive meeting with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharam and NHIDCL authorities, its sub contractors and Xen PMGSY and discussed various issues pertaining to the implementaion of EPF and MPH 1952 in the district.
He expressed the need for further follow up by District Administration and associate Offices to extend Social Security in the district.
