Randhawa distributes ration under PMGKAY

Jammu, Sept 16: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC) and State Secretary Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JKUT Thursday distributed ration among the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) at Ward No-43, Nanak Nagar in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment.
In a statement, Randhawa said that BJP is committed for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden section of the society and will take every step for their welfare. He said that the Union Government led by Narendra Modi as Prime Minister has launched various people-friendly welfare schemes and it is the duty of every BJP worker to ensure its proper implementation.
He said that the majority of the population for which these schemes are meant remains unaware following which they do not get due benefit. He urged the grassroots workers to make the general masses aware about these welfare schemes so that the majority of beneficiaries be benefitted.
While terming PMGKAY a boon for the poor amid pandemic Randhawa said that the scheme has been launched keeping the miseries of the poor people in mind.
He said the BJP government is sensitive enough towards the sufferings of the common man and announced a mega public friendly scheme under which free ration is being provided to the 80 crore families of the nation.
Randhawa further said that it is now the duty of the local workers to ensure proper implementation of such schemes where the government is spending huge amounts.
“Nobody should sleep hungry during a period when the poor was having no scope of earning their livelihood and to ensure food for them PMGKAY was launched hence it is a boon for the poor, '' Randhawa added.
More than hundred families were provided free ration today in the presence of Councilor JMC Ward No-43, Surjeet Choudhary.
The beneficiaries of the scheme hailed the efforts of the former MLC and local Councilor in reaching out to them even during the crisis.
