Srinagar, Aug 19: To bring more transparency regarding the progress and status of ongoing public work projects in the valley, various departments of the Public Works Department (PWD) have introduced the ‘Real Time Monitoring Tool’, said an official on Friday.

“The system has internal access to the projects in operation, any ongoing or concerned official has to update the day-end report in the tool which will ultimately get reflected across the system. The system is also driving a habit of meeting the deadlines and also delivery of the message is instant”, the engineer said.
The official said that the internal tool is accessible to all top officials of the Public works Department and serves as the real-time monitoring of any ongoing work.
“Earlier the update about the work projects use to happen through various modes like on telephone, email or documentation, now it is the instant any concerned engineer can file the status of the work and it will reflect at all top levels”, the engineer added.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings (R&B) Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq said the newly introduced concept is the brainchild of the principal secretary PWD, (R&B) department to make more transparency, visibility, and adherence to deadlines of projects.
“The system is in an internal communication where on-field engineers have to submit the reports of the projects to give an instant and firsthand information about any project, and officials on the ground have to ensure the compliance”, CE R&B Kashmir said.
