Police, NDRF, SDRF, CAPF, security forces engaged in rescue work: IGP Kumar

Srinagar, July 09: Inspector of General (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Saturday said Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other security agencies are working hard to clear the debris and to rescue and retrieve as many as possible who were washed away on Friday by cloudburst near holy Amarnath Shrine.
The cloudburst on Friday resulted in a heavy discharge of water in the 'Nallah', adjoining the holy cave leading to death to scores of pilgrims while more than 40 were injured.
While briefing on the rescue operation the IGP said, “Police, NDRF, SDRF, CAPF and security forces are engaged in the rescue work. So far 15 bodies have been retrieved. 35 people were injured who have been rescued by helicopter service. We will clear the debris by evening and retrieve bodies if found.”
