Srinagar, Aug 16: Political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday condemned attack on Kashmiri Pandit brother duo in Shopian resulting in death of Sunil Kumar and serious injuries to his brother Pinto Kumar.
National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice-president Omar Abdullah have unequivocally condemned the attack.
Dr Farooq said, "The terrible and dastardly attack has shocked me beyond words. I express sympathies and condolences with the bereaved, pray for peace to the departed soul and speedy recovery to injured. There is no place for such gruesome acts in any emancipated society. The attack also reveals the deteriorating security situation in Kashmir, marked by the spur in target killings. Fear is everywhere and people are feeling insecure given the fresh spate of such target killings."
Omar said, "Terribly sad news from South Kashmir. A dastardly militant attack has left a trail of death & suffering. I condemn the militant attack in Shopian unequivocally in which Sunil Kumar was killed & Pinto Kumar injured. My condolences to the family," he said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir termed the killing of Sunil Kumar as dastardly act committed by the militants and condemned the incident in strongest terms. Mir expressed deepest condolences to the families of Sunil Kumar and prayed for speedy recovery of injured.
BJP general secretary-organization, Ashok Koul condemn the act of cowardice and killing of Kashmiri Pandit by terrorists.
He said BJP has strongly condemned these incidents and lakhs of people showed their passion and love on the occasion of Independence Day in Jammu and Kashmir."
AamAadmi Party (AAP) condemned the attack and expressed concern over the security of KPs.
Former Minister and Apni Party vice-president Javaid Mustafa Mir strongly condemned the dastardly attack on minority community member Sunil Kumar in Shopian, while terming the incident extremely barbaric that can yield nothing except for more miseries to the people. He also termed the incident as highly deplorable and demanded that the perpetrators of this incident should be identified and brought to justice.
National Panthers Party (NPP) in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the “inhuman, barbaric” and most unfortunate murderous killings of innocent minorities’ community members in Kashmir Valley.
Apni Party’s Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi said, “It is heart-wrenching to see that yet another civilian from the minority community was brutally killed by the terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian. In this attack, his brother got injured. Just a day ago a grenade was thrown at a minority habitation in central Kashmir’s Chaddora in which a civilian namely Karan Kumar Singh was wounded. Those who have carried out such brutal acts of violence cannot be humans.”
He added, “Those responsible for the attacks on minority community are slur to the entire society. They must face the law of the land.”
Chairman Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen said that the attack on members of minority community by unidentified gunmen in Shopian is against humanity.
He said killing of unarmed civilians is against the tenants of Islam, adding that perpetrators of the heinous act could not be well-wishers of Kashmiriyat.
Former minister and senior National Conference leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said, “This is the most inhuman and barbarous act.” He wished speedy recovery to Sunil Kumar’s brother, Pintu Kumar, who were working in their apple orchardists when the terrorists attacked them.
PDP leader and spokesman RoufBhat said that such civilian killings are painful for any conscious citizen of Jammu and Kashmir and demand utmost condemnation from one and all.
Jammu and Kashmir AnjumanSharieShian, President Aga Syed Hassan Mousvi denounced the killings of minorities of Kashmir termed it as very unfortunate blow aiming at tarnishing the bond of brotherhood.
