Srinagar, June 05: Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen Sunday expressed serious concern over the recent attacks on Kashmiri students in Punjab colleges.
In a statement, he said it is unfortunate that innocent students are attacked by violent mobs outside Jammu and Kashmir, such things will not be accepted anymore.
Hakeem said safety of Kashmiri students should be the priority of the respective government. They are innocent and have nothing to do with politics or any situation, he said.
The senior leader termed it unfortunate that instead of taking action against the accused in the thrashing case, authorities at Swami Vivekananda College, Chandigarh suspended two Kashmiri students and a penalty of rupees 25000 was imposed on both the students.
"Instead of bridging the gap, the authorities are further widening it between the students. They are adding fuel to the fire," he said.
Hakeem appealed Prime Minister NarendraModi and Chief Minister Punjab to address the issue. “If such attacks continue it will have an adverse impact on the Valley situation," he said.
Reacting over the recent spate of killings in Kashmir, he said such killings are condemned and there is no space to justify such gruesome killings.
"The LG government should fulfil demands of Kashmiri Pandits and relocate them to safer destinations. The priority should be given to their safe accommodation and safety," Hakeem said.
The senior leader said the issue of KP employees should be resolved on priority basis, so that they have a sigh of relief.
