Srinagar, June 2: BhartiyaJanta Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur Thursday urged the LG Manoj Sinha led administration to take strict action against those spreading false and fake rumours about minority community members fleeing Kashmir stating that the Srinagar airport authorities have already clarified that the rush at the airport is normal and there was no rush of minorities.
In a statement issued here, Thakur said that some elements are not happy with the prevailing peace in Kashmir and are trying to spread fear by projecting the recent target killings in a wrong way. “These elements are spreading false and fake news on social media and other platforms about minority community members fleeing Kashmir,” he said, adding that airport authority of Srinagar has already cleared that given the large number of tourist arrivals, they are witnessed 16000 to 18000 passenger on daily basis and that there was no additional rush of minorities.
Thakur urged the LG administration and security agencies to act against the persons spreading fake news on social media and other platforms and book them under the relevant sections of law. He said that the government and the majority community stands with the Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities in this hour of challenge and we will not allow nefarious designs to succeed.
