NIRF-2022: KU, JU among top 100 educational institutions in India

Srinagar, July 15: In a major development, two universities from Jammu and Kashmir have figured in top 100 in National Institutional Ranking Framework 2022 (NIRF) of Ministry of Education (MoE).
From Kashmir valley, the University of Kashmir (KU) has secured 53rd position in the university rankings in NIRF-22. In this category, KU has secured 48.27 points.
However, in an overall category of NIRF 2022 ranking, KU has figured at 84th position with 45.98 points.
Similarly, the University of Jammu (JU) has secured 56th position with 48.03 points in university rankings and 93rd position with 45.11 points in an overall category of NIRF 2022 ranking.
According to the NIRF ranking 2022, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has also figured in top 100 engineering colleges and have secured 66th position with 45.52 points.
From the management category two institutions from Jammu and Kashmir have figured in top 100 including the Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIMJ) at 26th spot with 53.58 points and University of Jammu at 100th position with 41.44 points.
Likewise, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra has figured at 16th position with 55.75 points in architecture category.
Pertinently, NIRF was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development in September 2015.
This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.
The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
The parameters broadly cover ‘Teaching, Learning and Resources, ‘Research and Professional Practices,’ ‘Graduation Outcomes,’ ‘Outreach and Inclusivity,’ and ‘Perception.’
