Need to strengthen coordination between security agencies for safe, secure, smooth holy Yatra: IGP Kumar

Srinagar, June 27: Inspector General of Police Kashmir (IGP) Range, Vijay Kumar on Monday stressed on need for strengthening coordination between Army, CAPFs, and J&K Police for the safe, secure and smooth Amarnath Yatra.
He made these comments while holding a final security review meeting related to the holy Yatra in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The IGP was flanked by a galaxy of officers including GOC VictorForce, IG CRPF Kashmir ops sector , DIGs of BSF, ITBP, CRPF & DIG SKR Anantnag. Besides all district SSsP & COs of South Kashmir were also present.
At the onset of the meeting, IGP Kashmir welcomed all the participants and thanked GOC Victor Force, IG CRPF, DIG CRPF, DIG BSF and other officers for joining the meeting.
 He explained the agenda of the meeting as strengthening coordination between Army, CAPFs, and J&K Police and stressed the concept of joint responsibility and accountability and coordination for the safe, secure and smooth Yatra.
IGP Kumar highlighted the eminent threat from terrorists and stressed strengthening of the intelligence grid so as to neutralize them. 
He also discussed the other threat perceptions for Yatra as well as tourists and emphasized for the establishment of a proper security grid.
While taking district-wise security review and stock of arrangements put in place for SANJY-2022, he also elaborated on the role and responsibility of all the four districts of South Kashmir which were represented by the concerned District SSPs.
On the occasion, the senior officers of Army/Security Forces also presented a detailed presentation and shared their valuable inputs/suggestions for strengthening the overall security grid and providing foolproof security cover to the Yatries during their forward & return journey.
Special attention was laid on regular briefing and de-briefing, cut-off timings, elimination of the threat of sticky bombs/IEDs/grenade lobbing and drone attacks, security of parking areas, traffic management, ROP, implementation of SOPs, etc.
In conclusion, IGP Kumar emphasized that multiple checking points must be established for restricting un-registered Yatries to reach Base Camp to avoid chaotic situations.
He also directed that all stakeholders be taken into confidence by creating synergy and cordial relations with them so as to achieve the objective of conducting a successful Yatra.
He also emphasized the role of supervisory officers for ensuring briefing and debriefing, strengthening the intelligence grid on the ground, alertness of deployed nafri, intensified legal action on OGWs and following all the SOPs in letter and spirit.
IGP Kashmir also stressed better coordination, cooperation, and cohesive efforts between all the different agencies on the ground including Army, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, Civil Administration, and Police for safe, secure & smooth SANJY-2022.
The 43-day Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start on June 30 from two routes - the traditional 48-km Nunwan in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam and a 14-km shorter route from Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal - after a two-year break forced by the COVID pandemic.
About three lakh pilgrims are likely to take part in the pilgrimage to the cave shrine. 
The Amarnath pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine of Lord Shiva is located in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. The Yatra will conclude on August 11, 2022, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan
