BUDGAM: The Narbal-Wadwan Bridge over the Nallah Sukhnag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district collapsed when a sand-laden dumper passed over it on Friday morning.
An official from the Police Post Narbal said that the heavily loaded dumper may have caused the collapse of the bridge.
"The dumper was carrying construction matter, when it collapsed completely," the official said. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
The bridge connected several villages and road connectivity to these areas will remain disturbed.
Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Executive Engineer from the R & B department, Budgam, assured that bridge will be repaired within 15 days. “The R & B department will also provide the Shikara services at Nallah Sukhnag so that people may not suffer,” he added.
"After 15 days of the period, the traffic movement will be restored. The people should cooperate with us. There is also another route for traffic movement, people should use these routes until the bridge is repaired," Bhat said.
