Vitamin D is an essential part of our Bone health & it is not just a vitamin but it is a hormone & is mainly  synthesized by  the skin by absorbing sunlight & it is responsible for intestinal absorption of calcium, Magnesium, phosphorus & has multiple biological effects.
 
HOW DO WE GET VITAMIN D?
The major source of vitamin D synthesis is sun exposure & is produced by ultraviolet B Ray's from sun besides dietary intake & other supplementations.
Nealy every tissue & cell  requires vitamin D.
Without activated vitamin A we can absorb calcium.
Calcium is important for signaling issues  in the brain & essential for bone & teeth formation.
Vitamin D deficiency in children  causes Rickets & osteomalcia in adults.
There are evidences that vitamin D has a Preventive role in type 1 Diabetes,Autoimmune Diseases,Heart diseases,Bronchial asthma, Depression..

Normal Levels >30ng/ml
TREATMENT...Dietary sources...Milk,Mushroom,Yogurt,Fish liver oil,Egg Yolk, 
INFANTS...200 IU for 6 weeks & maintenance is 2000 IU for 6 weeks& 50,000 IU weekly
ADULTS..60,000 IU ×12 Weeks for 3 months.
70 to 80 % of people in India suffer from vitamin D deficiency due to inadequate sun exposure to sunlight, Dark skin,malabsorption & so on..
IDEAL TIME FOR SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE IS 11 AM to 2 PM.
