Bandipora August, 07: In a tragic accident, a 13-year old boy from Bagtore village of Gurez valley in north Kashmir's Bandipora district died after slipping into Kishanganga River on Sunday.

An official told Rising Kashmir that a boy identified as Umer Ahmad son of Gh Rasool from Dassia Bagtore village of Gurez slipped into the Kishanganga river near Bagtore.

He said that soon after he slipped into the river, efforts were made to rescue him and subsequently he was retrieved.

However locals alleged that no doctor was available in a nearby health centre which could have saved his body.

They said that he was declared dead by the time he was rushed to Sub district hospital Dawer.

The locals protested for many hours demanding that the concerned doctor be suspended as his availability could have saved his life.

Meanwhile Sub District Magistrate Gurez, Mudasir Ahmad along with other officials reached on spot and assured that an enquiry committee will be constituted who will look into the matter.

A police official told Rising Kashmir that the body was handed over to heirs for last rites after performing medico-legal formalities.
