Meet Aasif Mehraj: A model turned entrepreneur

Srinagar, July 14:  Aasif Mehraj, 30 a model turned entrepreneur resident of Srinagar is running a clothing brand ‘Epic Touch by AasifMehraj’ at Bangalore.
 
In 2009, Mehraj left Kashmir for studies and went to Delhi. While pursuing his studies in Management studies, he met a designer from Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Praveen who offered him to walk in his fashion show.
 
The meeting was not by luck or chance but Mehraj since his childhood was dreaming of becoming a model. He said that people always appreciated his dressing sense.
 
Mehraj said, “My modelling career began after I appeared in the fashion show offered by designer Praveen.”
 
Mehraj has always been a centre of attraction during his modelling career because of his height, he is more than six feet.  
In 2011, I met a model named PaljorGyabak, the winner of Gladrags 2006.
 
He suggested that I go to Mumbai for shoots and referred me to a few famous designers there in Mumbai, where I walked for "India International Trade Centre (IITC) 2011.
 
” In Bangalore also, I walked in many fashion weeks. He said that he has worked for famous fashion designers like Prasad Bidapa and Shilpi Choudhury and has done shoots for Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, Max and other brands also.
 
It is to mention here “Prasad Bidapa is a Bangalore based fashion stylist and choreographer for various fashion events and shows. He is known to be a fashion consultant, choreographer, image consultant and stylist.”
 
Aasif was the winner of the 2016 elite mega model contest which was held in Delhi and has walked for Mehrab the designer as a runway model in Delhi.
 
After a successful modelling Career, Mehraj decided to try his luck in entrepreneurship. He established a clothing brand ‘Epic Touch by AasifMehraj’ in Bangalore, where all of his clothes are imported from Turkey and he deals with pashmina shawls, which he exports to Oman and Yemen.
 
“The main motive of my brand is to provide quality with perfection and set trends on an international platform.”
While detailing more about his brand, he said, "In Kashmir, I will open the branch of my brand soon and my goal is to inspire youth.”
