Jammu, June 30: The kind of mega projects that the Union Government is commissioning in Jammu and Kashmir are not only going to give the Union Territory (UT) a better connectivity with rest of the country but will also enhance the economic and tourism activities to the level that massive employment will be generated in years to come and the ease of doing business and trade with other states besides UTs will become easier.
This was stated by the BJP J&K executive member Raman Suri on Thursday. He said that one single project of connecting Katra to Delhi for which the Union Minister for Roads, Transport and National Highways NitinGadkari has approved Rs 2574.47 crore will boost religious and other tourism, economic activities, generate employment, give other states fast and better access to J&K and enable traders to procure their materials in a much faster and safer manner.
In addition, the smart city projects are transforming the cities like Jammu and Srinagar into modern cities with better amenities and beautiful road networks besides parking slots to decongest the roads.
The opposition is bewildered with such massive developments that are taking place in the UT post abrogation of Article 370, which was a stumbling block in the process of development. Raman Suri also appreciated the elaborate security arrangements made by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration for smooth conduct of Shri AmarnathjiYarta this year and said that the pilgrims are jubilant and are heading towards Jammu and Kashmir to pay their obeisance at the cave shrine.
Referring to the Katra-Delhi highway, Raman Suri said that its best part is that it will be connecting many religious places of importance and will enable people to travel at ease because of the amenities and safe highways being built in India at a fast pace. The reduced travel time between Delhi and Katra will also help reduce rush at the cave shrine as many people prefer to have Darshan and return the same day.
He said, the opposition political outfits in J&K are mute witnesses to such massive development wherein tunnels are being constructed and bridges are being built to give J&K an all-weather connectivity. All the previous regimes, Raman Suri said, had kept J&K in the dark and were not at all interested in its fast development because of personal interests. Now that the BJP government is ensuring that all the money meant for J&K projects is best utilised, these leaders have become frustrated and are trying to mislead the people by their false and frivolous campaigns against the government.
