Mansbal to be popular tourist destination soon: Chief Secretary

Srinagar, July 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta Tuesday said Mansbal Lake will soon be among the popular tourist destinations in the Valley as the UT government is working on identification and promotion of all destinations with tourism potential.
Dr. Mehta was speaking to reporters on the side-lines of a water sports festival at the Mansbal Lake.
 He said in order to promote local economy and generate livelihood to unemployed youth, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is working on identification and promotion of tourist destination across J&K.
“Mansbal will also be among the popular tourist destination very soon,” he added.
He added events like Manasbal water sports festival will help in promoting such places.
At the occasion, Secretary Tourism Department, Sarmad Hafeez said the UT Government is working on several fronts to improve the socio-economic condition of people. “The government is working on short and long term measures to give a flip to tourism sector in order to change to socio-economic condition of the people”, he said.
He urged upon stakeholders to avail the benefit of recently flagged-off homestay policy by the Government and register themselves to get engaged in income generation programs.
“Homestay initiative has recently been launched by the Government not only to accommodate more tourists in valley but also to enhance the standard of stakeholders”, he said.
