Local heroes in sports, arts receive ‘Kashmir Excellence Awards’

Srinagar, July 23: Al-Jawad Sports Academy JK in collaboration with - Hyder Social Welfare Association here gave away Kashmir Excellence Awards to persons who have shown excellence in various fields including sports, arts, film making, music etc.
Renowned international live performer and singer Rafiq Khan was Chief Guest of the event.
Talking to Rising Kashmir Rafi Khan said that he has flown from Mumbai to Kashmir, just to attend this award ceremony as award functions like this shall boost the confidence of sports personalities.
“I came here after 10 years and I am happy to see the Kashmiris proving their mettle at various platforms,” he said, adding, “Youngsters like international kickboxing champion Syed Tajamul Islam made him really proud.”
General Secretary, Al Jawad Sports Academy Syed Shujat Shah said Kashmir excellence award 2021 was organized with the motive to acknowledge and appreciate the achievements of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Sports can play an important role in curbing the drug menace in the valley, we must encourage more and more youth towards sports as this way, we can keep them away from drug related activities,” he said.
He also said that sports can be helpful in tackling and coping with rising suicidal cases in the valley.
 “Unfortunately recently we witnessed many such cases where youths ended their lives leaving behind their parents in pain and agony,” he sighed.
Kickboxing star, Syed Tajamul, who was also awarded on the occasion said by engaging youngsters with sports they can prevent them from indulging drug activities and suicides.
Abid Ali made audience aware about the Kashmir film industry and the rest of the people shed light on other social issues. 
The event concluded with presenting awards to various personalities for their excellent contribution in sports, Music, arts and culture.  
Zameer Ashai was awarded for the best actor of J&K, Hussain Bhat received first film maker from J&K award, Rafi khan was awarded for the best international performer in singing, Abid Ali as best singer, Ishfaq Kawa as best singer of Jammu and Kashmir, Tajamul Islam as world boxing champion, Parveena Azad as senior best singer, Shugufta Rehman as best choreographer JK, Fiza Nazir as International Medallist, Tabish Ajaz as artist in china leaf auto work, Shazia That as best fashion designer, Ishtar Akhtar as first international wheelchair basketball player of JK, Shobna  as best theatre actor of JK, Irfana Ahad as first women cricketer, Kamran Shafi as martial art player, Tanzeela Mushtaq was awarded the best host of the valley and author, the audience were entertained by music, art and other cultural programs at regular intervals.
