Jammu, May 18: AAP leader Harsh Dev Singh Wednesday said that with state of J&K having been dismantled and downgraded and, according to him, “proxy rule of BJP imposed in the UT for the last three and half years, it was the weird experimentation of BJP govt that was responsible for the prevalent crisis in the erstwhile state. The haughty and supercilious claims of peace and normalcy stood fully exposed in the wake of escalation of militant activity and selective killings going unabated in the UT especially in the valley.”
He was addressing a press conference in Jammu along with Yash Paul Kundal, ex-minister and Taranjeet Singh Tony. DDC member and senior AAP leaders.
Accusing the BJP government of “subverting” democracy and prolonging bureaucratic rule, Singh maintained that a legitimate elected government alone is the panacea to the ills afflicting J&K.
He said that on 5th Aug 2019, the BJP led government at the centre had caused the greatest embitterment in the hearts and minds of the people by denigrating the status of statehood to a Union Territory.
Singh said that it was the oldest state in the country which was conceptualized and created by our revered rulers and extended with countless sacrifices made by our ancestors and forefathers.
“Not only had the incidents of political and civilian killings in J&K increased but the hitherto peaceful areas like Udhampur and Katra had also become vulnerable under the present ‘Babu Raj’. The economy was worst impacted and development had come to a standstill,” he said.
