JKASC 6-member team summits highest peak of Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 22: A team of six members of Jammu and Kashmir Adventure Sports Club (JKASC) Sunday summit the highest peak of Srinagar, covering a record distance of 20.42 km with an altitude of 3966 meters in five hours and 28 minutes starting from Dhara Faqir Gujri.
The six members team comprising Muzamil Hussain, Adil Ghazi, Sajjad Hussain, Adil Farooq, Niyaz, and Sara Naqash started running the peak on early Sunday morning (August 21) to the highest peak of Srinagar in the least possible time.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Muzamil Hussain said that they started trial running from Dhara Faqir Gujri (Scholar school) on Sunday morning at 6:42 AM and reached the highest peak at 10:16 AM, run back towards Dhara, Faqir Gujri and reached there at 12:29 PM.
“Among us was 17-year-old girl Sara Naqash who made it to the summit with us, we all were highly impressed with her grit and determination to complete this trek,” he said, and added, “The team included a participant Sajjad Hussain from Kargil who also made it to summit along us,”
“We covered a record distance of 20.42 km in 5 hours and 28 minutes,” he claimed.
Earlier on sky runners, Tufail Qurashi and Nawab Mouzim summited 18.8 km in 6 hrs and 11 minutes.
“The trek was full of fun and adventurous, I am very excited after achieving this feat,” Sara Naqash said.
Hussain claims the JKASC was the first ever club that promoted snowshoe trekking in the valley and inspired youngsters in various sports.
“This was a wonderful experience as we broke the previous record and Muzamil Bhai lead the team from the beginning till we accomplish the feat in record time,” said 24-year- old Sajjad Hussain Baba, adding they are planning to summit the great lakes, comprising of seven lakes starting from Nara Nag to Sonamarg.
