JD YSS holds meeting of DYSSOs

Srinagar July 13: Joint Director Kashmir Department of Youth Services and Sports Bashir Ahmad took a detailed review meeting of all the District Youth Services and Sports Officers (DYSSOs) of Kashmir division at Youth Hostel here.

As per a statement, the important issues which were taken up in the meeting pertained to the participation of students and nonstudents in sports activities at different levels, status of the development of sports infrastructure in different districts, expenditures under capex budget, status of online registration for school games and YSS cup, implementation of Annual Sports Calendar etc.
The meeting was apprised that the registration process for the participation in different games and sports at different levels is in progress and the same is being expedited with the help of technically efficient employees of the Department.

JD YSS while expressing his happiness over the huge participation of both students and non-students at different levels in first quarter of the financial year (FY) said that an impressive participation of about 9.5 Lakhs at UT level which includes an overwhelming number of 647346 comprising of  297175 boys and 215609 Girls excluding other activities from Kashmir division is a clear indicator of the fact that the efforts of department in engaging students and youth in   sports activities are yielding good  results.

 He added that it is heartening to see girls taking part in games and sports in large numbers. Sports is the main medium to keep youth away from social evils, drug addiction etc. While reviewing progress of works ,

He asked the officers to keep a close vigil on the ongoing works being taken under the augmentation of sports infrastructure program so that tangible and durable assets are created for use by  the youth. 

 He also laid stress on the wide publicity of the registration process for YSS Cup at panchayat level and stressed that teams must participate from every panchayat to make the YSS CUP  an attraction for youth to participate. 

 He advised I/c Media and Publicity wing of the Directorate of YSS to ensure that all the viable and effective sources of mass-media are utilised in ensuring that youth in large numbers get themselves registered at every panchayat of the District. He impressed upon all DYSSOs to redouble their efforts to achieve the target of 17.5 lakh participation during the current year.
