IUST organises Kickboxing championship in Awantipora

Srinagar, July 26: The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports(DPES), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora organized a two-day Kick Boxing Championship on Tuesday.
As per official the event shall be for two days from July 26-27, 2022, wherein a total of 270 athletes are participating.
The Championship was inaugurated by Prof.Naseer Iqbal Registrar, IUST and the other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mohd. Yousuf SSP Awantipora, Colonel Rajkumar Singh, Commanding Officer, 44RR, Professors and Sameer Wazir Chairman Sports Committee.
Speaking on occasion Prof. Iqbal while welcoming the participants in Championship, said, youth need to utilize their energies in a positive manner and sports provide an excellent platform for the same.
"Participation in competitive sports contributes to preparing the students to face and overcome challenges and also improves academic potential," he said.
He added that sports create a healthy environment and help to protect our young generations from evils like drug addiction.
While informing the gathering present on the occasion, Chairman, Sports Committee, Sameer Wazir, said that the university will be investing in the physical development of the students and will utilize its sports infrastructure for the overall development of the youth.
While extending gratitude to participants and the sponsors for making the event success, Dr. Hilal A Rather Assistant Director, Physical Education & Sports said, sports help to build a foundation for lifelong health and also help to form social and community bonds.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the District Pulwama Kickboxing Association and is supported by 42RR,Victor Force.
