Islamia College ‘Tug of War’ match

Srinagar, Sep 28: The College Department of Physical Education organized a match of “Tug of War” between College Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members at Islamia College of Science and Commerce play field today on Tuesday under the Banner of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrut Mahatsov commemorating India's 75th Independence Day which is being celebrated across the U T by Govt. of J & K Administration.
The match between the Teaching staff and Non-Teaching staff was played at 12:30 pm at College Play field in which a single pull decided the winning team among the two rivals. The teaching staff team was spearheaded by the staff secretary Prof. Abdul Majid while non-teaching team was led by Midhat Kamli. After more than a 5 minute tussle, the teaching team overpowered the opposite side.
Speaking on the occasion, College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir accompanied by all the members of College Sports Committee members said that both the teams of our College have showcased an exceptional performance in pulling up the Rope in this competition. He said the students of this College should also be given a chance in this power game of Tug of War so that they can also showcase their talent and strength skills and are able to perform better in forthcoming college sports competitions. While expressing satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of staff members of college Tug of War teams, he said the collegians should also be given a chance to participate in such activities in and outside the college.
