Srinagar, June 05: In Jammu and Kashmir nearly, 80 percent private and government schools are approachable for all-weather roads, reveals official figures.
The figures reveal that out of a total 28,930 schools in Jammu and Kashmir, only 6056 schools are not-approachable for all-weather roads.
According to the Ministry of Education (MoE) data, “At least 22,874 private and government schools functioning in Jammu and Kashmir were accessible by all-weather conditions in the academic year 2020-21.”
In the previous academic years, the MoE had said that nearly 26 percent of government-run-schools are not approachable for all-weather roads in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile the teachers of frontier district Kupwara told Rising Kashmir that due to accumulated snow, the road connectivity used to be very weak. “Scores of schools used to remain cut off even after the scheduled timing for reopening of schools after the winter vacation. But this year, the educational institutes opened on time.”
The areas wherein the schools used to re-open late included Machil and Budnambal zone wherein road connectivity was very weak and inaccessible for students to reach the school.
