‘Impact Lecture Series’ concludes at BGSBU

Jammu, Oct 31: Institution Innovation Council, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was selected to conduct Impact Lecture Series sponsored by MoE’s Innovation Cell and AICTE with objective to support HEIs from 3rd tier cities to aware students and faculty about innovation ecosystem at the regional and National level.
In this context, IIC BGSBU organized 2nd session of Impact Lecture series on October 28th, 2021 themed on Start-up Policies & Opportunities.
Prof. Akbar Masood Vice Chancellor of the University applauded the efforts of the IIC for organising the lecture series.
He said that there is a need to bring students into startup culture and to provide them a platform where they can convert their bright ideas into innovation.
Earlier, the first session of Impact Lecture series was conducted on October 05, 2021 themed on Intellectual Property Rights. Arindam Purkayastha, Patent attorney, Khurana & Khurana and Prof. Gauri K Gargate, Rajiv Gandhi School of IP, IIT Kharagpur were the resource persons in the first session.
Prof. Dr. Hafeez Basha, Director, Technology Business Incubation, Lords Institute of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad was the resource person in the first lecture of second session of Impact series.
Prof. Hafeez delivered a lecture on “Funding opportunities for Start-ups”. Prof. Hafeez discussed various schemes floated by the GoI to encourage Start-ups within the Institutes and outside.
The second lecture of the session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Saad Pervez, Head Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship Center, National Institute of Technology, Srinagar. Prof. Saad deliberated on the topic “Developing Innovation & Start-up Policy in HEI’s-Challenges & Opportunities” through his presentation. Prof. Saad elucidated the key features of National Innovation & Start-up Policy-2019 and how the adoption of the same at HEI’s will act as ecosystem enabler in today’s era. Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs, BGSBU emphasized on the transformation of students from job seekers to job creators in order to meet the top 25 Global Innovation Index targeted by our Nation within the next five years.
Prof. Iqbal lauded the efforts of the organizing team for conducting such event. Dr. Farkhanda Ana, Convener, IIC mentioned innovation as a tool to keep pace with the world in the era of disruptive technologies. She further highlighted the importance of NISP adoption to create a robust innovation ecosystem in HEIs.
Dr. Farkhanda Ana also presented a brief report of the entire Lecture series and expressed gratitude to MoE’s Innovation Cell and AICTE for sponsoring the series. Dr. Nasir Ahmad Rather, Start-up Coordinator, IIC and Junaid Farooq War, IPR Coordinator had earlier welcomed the speakers and the participants during respective lectures.
Kashif Mehdi and Nikita Kumari, student members, IIC carried the programme proceedings.
The programme witnessed healthy participation from amongst faculty and students of varied disciplines.
