Govt set to start second edition of ‘My Youth My Pride’ sports program

 Srinagar, May 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) is all set to launch the second edition of the sports Programme "My Youth My Pride" with the goal of engaging more than 12 lakh youth across J&K in various sports disciplines after receiving overwhelming response in the first edition this year, said an official.
 According to officials aware of the development, the first edition of 'My Youth My Pride,' organised and managed by the J&K Sports Council, received a positive response, prompting the government to decide to launch the second edition of the programme in the same year, with final modalities being discussed and finalized for the sports programme.
 A top official told Rising Kashmir that more focus shall be given on rural, border and tribal areas to bring people under its ambit.
 “The main focus of the event is to wean the children from drug menace and involve them to be a citizen of fit India .The response to the government programme earlier has been immense and the areas covered shall rewrite the history of participation of the youth in sports”, the official said.
 Another official said that in order to strengthen more sports culture in J&K, sports council of J&K after receiving a good response for the sports Programme ‘My Youth My Pride’ with the consultation with the government has decided to start the second edition of the sports Programme, with a purpose to tap raw talent, and for the second edition, are hoping to reach every nook and corner of the valley and organise sports events that are popular in those specific areas.
 "For the second edition of 'My Youth My Pride,' we hope to engage more than 12 lac youth in sports activities across Jammu and Kashmir, with an emphasis on sports that are popular in each area, so that athletes and players have a broader platform to demonstrate their sporting talent," the official added.
Officials also stated that during the second edition of the 'My Youth, My Pride,' not only will sports events linked with registered sports associations be held, but also non-Olympic sports disciplines.
 According to officials aware of the development, the second edition of 'My Youth My Pride' will include around 28 major games, including sports events for women, disabled people, and veterans.
