GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organises field trip and cleanliness drive

Hiranagar, July 13: Department of Environmental Science and Eco Club of Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organized a field trip and a cleanliness drive at Jasrota area district Kathua.  A total of 40 students and staff members participated in this field trip.
 
Prof. Shujat Khan senior-most staff member and coordinator IQAC flagged off the trip on behalf of Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna the Principal of the college. Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna in her message asked the students to stay alert, active and notice and record everything around. She further encouraged the students to reap the maximum benefit out of this field visit. 
The first activity of the day was held at Jasrota temple in the form of cleanliness drive by the students of the Eco-club. The students by this drive encouraged and inspired the onlookers not to throw plastic or polythene waste or any other non-biodegradable waste like chunni and wrappers in the open environment.
 
The second part of the trip was the visit of the Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary. The students in this activity witnessed many wild flora and fauna of the sanctuary like wild boar, barking deer and a variety of avi-fauna. All the students tracked uptoJasrota Fort with great enthusiasm.  
 
Prof. Neha Bhagat, HOD Dept. of EVS and Convenor Eco-Club interacted with the participants and described the various species of plants and animals present in the Sanctuary. She was expressed that the site is an ecologically sensitive place and the restoration and conservation of the place is going on. She also threw light on the importance of biodiversity and role of every individual in its conservation.
 
Prof. Neha Bhagat, convener of the Eco-Club coordinated the event, while the members of Eco-Club, Dr Jyoti Rani, Dr. Arun kumar and Mr.VikramJamwal (PTI) were also part of the field trip. The programme was held in consultation of the Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Pragya Khanna and with the support of the Staff, Jasrota Wildlife Sanctury.
