GDC Udhampur holds Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan

Udhampur, Aug 14: To eradicate the evil of drugs from the minds and hearts of the students and youth, Govt Degree College Udhampur organized a nasha mukt abhiyaan in the college premises. The event was organized by the NSS unit of the college under the guidance of the principal, Prof(Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta.
On this occasion a pledge was undertaken by the NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and other students of the college in which they took an oath of never going into the direction of Drug Addiction. Thereafter, a symposium was held uner the title – Nasha-Ek Abhishaap, in which many students putforth their views on the causes and effects of drugs on the addict as an individual and on the society, family and nation as a whole.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal told the students that how the drugs affect the whole body functioning of an individual and make him totally dependent on it. He also appealed to the society, particularly the families to take extra care of the home environments so that the children are not pushed towards this hell. The Nss PO, Dr Rippy Bawa also made the students aware about how the young generations fall into this trap and what steps should be undertaken by all to resist it strongly.
The NSS Volunteers and the Ncc cadets constituted an Anti Drug Cell to identify the sensitive places where the probability of this nuissance could be high and take suitable actions by informing the police. The event was witnessed by the college students as well as the college faculty. The prominent among those present were Prof Babulal Thakur, Prof Seema Kotwal, Prof Romesh kumar Attri, Dr Ajay Sharma, Dr Pankaj Sharma, Prof Shaji Khan and others.
