Srinagar, May 21: The annual road race at Government Degree College, Pulwama, was held on Saturday from Murran Chowk to Kakapora Pulwama—a stretch of approximately 8 KM.
According to officials of the GDC Pulwama, Around 90 students participated in the race.
Suhail Ahmad, a student of second semester, secured the first position to the finish line.
Zubair Yousuf, student of 5th semester, and Abdul Waheed (Jersey No. 23), student of second semester, secured the second and third positions respectively.
The race was flagged off by the Principal of Professor Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Prof. G. M. Nengroo (HoD Chemistry), Convener
Sports Board and SHO Pulwama in the wee hours today at 5:00 am from Murran Chowk.
The District Administration, District Police Department of Health Services, Lines Pulwama, Traffic Police Dept. of Pulwama and SHO Kakapora assisted the college in holding the event successfully.
A brief award distribution ceremony was held on the college's athletic field, where all the athletes, staff of the college and other collaborating agencies participated.
While thanking the collaborating agencies for helping the college in successfully holding the event the guests praised the efforts of the entire staff of the college also were acknowledged.
The top ten position holders were given medals, while the first three position holders were awarded medals and trophies. The proceedings of the function were conducted by Prof. M. Showkat Ali, HoD, Dept. of English, Language and Literature (DELL).
Breakfast was served to all and sundry at the end of the function.
