Srinagar, July 06: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir Wednesday offered resignation to party high command after serving JKPCC for over eight years.
Chief spokesperson of the JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma told Rising Kashmir that Mir has submitted his resignation letter to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Sonia Gandhi.
“The resignation is an offer. It is up to the party high command whether to accept it or not,” Sharma said.
He also said that Mir would respect any decision of the high command in the interest of the party.
Mir will still work as JKPCC President till any decision will not come to fore from central leadership, Sharma added.
Replying to a question, Sharma said the JKPCC has not recommended any name for the JKPCC chief.
“G A Mir is a disciplined soldier of a party, any decision taken by the party president regarding his successor shall be acceptable to all,” Sharma added.
Earlier rumors were rife that the JKPCC chief had tendered his resignation from the party post and paved the way for new faces in the party.
