Four terrorists killed in Pulwama, Soporeencounters:Police

118 terrorists including 32 foreigners killed in current year: IGP

Srinagar, June 19: Police on Tuesday said that four terrorists were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Pulwama and Sopore areas on Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar told Rising Kashmir that two terrorists were killed in an encounter that started late Monday night in Tujjan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district while as two others were killed in Tulibal area of north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
He said that one among the militants killed in Pulwama was responsible for killing of a Sub-Inspector of Police recently in Awanitipora.
He further said that so far 118 terrorists including 32 foreign terrorists have been killed in Kashmir.
“Out of 118, 77 terrorists are from Pak sponsored Lasker-e-Taiba terror outfit and 26 are from Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit,” IGP Kumar said.
He further said in 2021 total of 55 terrorists including two foreign terrorists were killed in the same period.
While giving further details about the encounters, a police spokesman said in Pulwama, acting on specific information input generated by Police regarding the presence of terrorists in village Tujjan, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (53RR) & CRPF (183Bn) in the said area.
“During the search operation, as the joint party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter,” he said.
In the ensuing encounter, 02 terrorists of proscribed terror outfit JeM were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
Police identified the slain terrorists as Abid Ahmad Sheikh resident of BarporaPulwama and Majid NazirWani resident of BanporaLadooPampore.
 
The spokesman said that as per police records, both the killed terrorists were part of group involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and civilian killings.
In second encounter in Sopore, the spokesman said, based on specific input generated by Police regarding presence of terrorists in Tulibal area of Sopore.
A joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (52RR) and CRPF in the said area.
“During the search operation, as the presence of terrorists got ascertained, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter,” he said.
In the ensuing encounter, 02 terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of the encounter.
Police spokesman said that the slain terrorists were identified as Zahid Ahmad Chopan resident of TengwaniShopian and MohdYouns Gul resident of WashbughPulwama.
 
 
 

Hybrid terrorist held in Baramulla: Police 

‘Terror module busted in Budgam’

Police on Tuesday said that the security forces arrested a hybrid terrorist of proscribed terror outfit LeT in Baramulla.
As per police spokesman, acting on specific information regarding the movement of terrorists; a joint checkpoint was established near Juhama crossing by Police and 52RR.
“During checking, movement of a suspicious person was noticed who tried to flee from the spot. However, the alert joint party apprehended him tactfully,” he said.
Police identified the accused as Shahid Ahmad Parray son of Gh Ahmad Parray resident of KathporaHajin.
“On his personal search, incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 pistol, 01 pistol magazine, 07 pistol rounds and 02 hand grenades were recovered from his possession,” the spokesman said.
As per preliminary investigation by Police accused was working as a hybrid terrorist linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT and was in an attempt to carry out terrorist activities in Baramulla town and adjacent areas, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that Police in Budgam along with 53RR and 181Bn CRPF busted a terror module of proscribed outfit LeT by arresting three associates.
The accused were identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam son of Ghulam MohdHajam, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, both residents of ZuhamaChadoora and Tahir Bin Ahmed son of Ghulam Ahmed Hajam resident of BadiporaChadoora.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested trio was involved in facilitating transportation of terrorists, arms, explosive materials and providing logistic support to the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT in district Budgam,” the spokesman said.
Police recovered incriminating material, arms & ammunition including 01 Chinese Pistol, 02 Pistol magazines,   22 Pistol rounds, 01 AK magazine, 30 AK rounds from their possession.
“Besides, 01 motorcycle (TVS Red colour) used in terror crimes bearing registration number JK01N-8067 has also been seized,” the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 114/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation is in progress.
