Floriculture department working on up-gradation of parks: CS Floriculture

Says the department will add more parks to Valley

Srinagar, June 20:  Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said that the department of floriculture is working tirelessly to make Kashmir gardenslook beautiful.This was stated by Commissioner Secretary to government Floriculture Gardens and Parks, Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad on the side-linesof a function organised by the department.
He said that the flow of tourists is increasing manifolds and our gardeners are working tirelessly to make parks more attractive.The department has also issued the modern machinery to the gardens. He said these machines will ease their work and will save their time.
“The department is committed to provide every latest machinery to gardens so that these parks across Kashmir will be beautified on modern lines.” 
The machines inaugurated by the Commissioner Secretaryare ten times faster than other conventional machines, a senior official of the department said.
To a question, the Commissioner Secretary said none of the parks which is looked after by the floriculture department is closed. The department is also working on the up-gradation of parks, he further added.
In addition, the department is planning to develop some other parks in Kashmir valley to attract more and more tourists to the valley, he added.
Notably, there are at least five government agencies directly responsible for the development and maintenance of public parks in J&K; Department of floriculture, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Srinagar Development Authority, J&K Housing board and landscape division, PW(R&B) department.
According to a senior official of Floriculture Kashmir, in Srinagar, there are 30 public parks, 85 VIP lawns and five nurseries where hundreds of gardeners are currently working.
He went on to say that, it is the gardeners who work all the seasonstirelessly to make these parks attractive.
