First scientific advisory committee meet held in Gurez

Gurez, June 05: The first Scientific Advisory committee meeting to frame the annual action plan was held at Dak Bunglow, in Dawar Gurez.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora- II (Gurez) on June 05 conducted Ist Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting in presence of  Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, SDM Gurez  Mudasir Ahmad Wani, SDAO Gurez, BVO Gurez, SDO Gurez, FDA Gurez Range Officer, I/C Horticulture Gurez, I/C Sericulture Gurez, Manager J&K Bank Gurez, and manager J&K Grameen  Bank attended the meeting.
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora-II (Gurez) presented a detailed Action plan for the year 2022-23.
All the problems and issues related to the area were discussed threadbare. SDM of the area present on the occasion assured his full support and help to KVK and MAR&ES Gurez.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai stressed upon the need to prioritise the area of food and nutritional security and economic of tribal people of the valley.
 He assured the Programme Coordinator for his full support, to come up with the expectations of the farmers. Programme Coordinator was assured full cooperation in playing his role for solving problems related to agriculture and animal husbandry of the area.
Director Extension took the feedback of all the line departments for identification of area based, farmer oriented problems of this far flung area for reflecting those demand driven issues in to the annual action plan of the KVK Bandipora-II (Gurez) keeping in the demand driven issues related to post harvest management of potato, low remunerative values of sheep to the farmers need of skill up-gradation training of rural youth with regard to value addition, vegetable preservation, sericulture, mushroom cultivation and some other cash crop related issues.
Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Wani felicitated the participants of representatives of all line departments including J&K and Grameen Bank who provided a valuable feedback that helped a long way in framing the stipulated action plan.
The Director ATARI Ludhiana, Dr. Rajbir Singh who attended in virtual mode conveyed that” My message for team Gurez, work harder for the farming community of this great land for which this KVK is created. I hope hard work of team KVK will bring prosperity in farming community of this area. My best wishes for robust action plan of the KVK.” 
Vice-Chancellor a day before addressed a huge gathering of the farmers, farm women and rural youth and provided on spot solutions of various problems posed by them. 
He expressed deep concern over the harvesting of Kala Zeera in infancy stage and cautioned about stopping of this practice for flourishing of this crop in the area.
He laid stress on arranging of training programmes in the area and linking the farmers with the markets. Stress was laid on exploring of medicinal and aromatic plants in the area for increasing the income of the farmers.
