FCSCA inspects 165 business establishments, 35 shopkeepers fined

Srinagar, June 17: The enforcement squad of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department in Kashmir on Friday inspected 165 business establishments and fined 35 shops here. Besides, they sealed five mutton shops in Srinagar city for overpricing and violations of the Essential Commodities Act, 1995.
According to the officials of FCS & CA,a fine of 45200 rupees has been collected from erring shopkeepers.
He said that 35 shops were fined and 5 mutton shops were also sealed.
He also said, "The department is continuously carrying out drives in Kashmir to curb the overpricing."
According to the assistant director (Enforcement), Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Kashmir, market checking drives were conducted in various areas of Srinagar City such as Ahmed Nagar, GulabBagh, Zakura, Nowshera, Lal Bazar, Khomoh, Dalgate, Sonawar, Batamaloo, Karanagar, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Nowgam, Rawalpora and other areas of Srinagar District.
It is pertinent to add here that during the month of June 2022, an amount of 474250 (four hundred forty-four thousand and fifty) has been collected as a fine from 880 traders for violating the E.C Act. Besides, 19 establishments are also sealed.
Furthermore, the erring group has been warned to be more cautious in the future. The drive will continue with the same passion in the future as well, and whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice. Meanwhile, the locals of Srinagar have hailed the department for taking strict action against the erring shopkeepers. They said such drives should be continued in Srinagar to curb this overpricing.
