The 19-year-old Falak Shah from Srinagar always dreamed of becoming a fashion model. Even though she faced hurdles, she overcame them and convinced her parents to pursue her career in modeling.
She said being a Kashmiri she wants to promote ethnic products and inspire others to come out of their comfort zone.
In June 2021, Falak began her career as a fashion model and collaborated with some of the Kashmiri brands Schenpann, Sara Sehar, Farewell, Cashmere Crafts and many others.
“I was very fascinated about modelling from childhood,'' Falak told Rising Kashmir.
“I started my career as a cosmetologist and then came into modeling. Being a Kashmiri girl, I prefer to start it from here only so that I can influence others too.
“My first photo-shoot as a fashion model was with Cashmere Crafts and my experience was very good,” she added.
Falak aims to do only ethnic modeling as she said it is the best and most enthusiastic way for her to present things.
The Srinagar teenager has also worked with Rapkid Arafat in “Yar Tera” song directed by Ariyan Bhat.
After that she also worked with Arpan Singh in Song ‘Diljaniya’. She also features in web series “ASAR” written and directed by Shoaib Shah Films, which will be released soon.
Besides modeling and working as a cosmetologist, she manages to devote time to her studies as well.
On local talent she said, “In Kashmir there are a lot of talented people but sometimes we hesitate to come out of our zone. Issues will be there always but one has to learn how to overcome them and move forward.”
“It is hard for some, especially in a place like Kashmir to accept modeling as a preferred career option. But if one is committed and pursues his dream with conviction all obstacles look small,” she added.
