Poonch, June 06: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday said the party at the helm of affairs in New Delhi has miserably failed to do justice with the twin districts of PirPanjal region.
According to a statement from the party, Dr Farooq Abdullah said this while inaugurating the party's local office in Surankote.
Dr Farooq said that the party will scuttle every attempt being made to divide the people of J&K on religious, and regional lines. Invoking the role of people in protecting the peaceful ethos of J&K, particularly PirPanjal region, he said “People have a role to play in keeping such forces at bay. They are pitching one community against another. Had they been sincere towards the upliftment of the PirPanjal region, the ground situation with regards to roads, hospital, water, electricity would have been different. The situation on ground is deplorable. The twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri have been rescinded from the development radar of the government.Work on major road, tunnel and tourism projects started by the previous NC led government has been stalled. People are hankering for day to day needs. Youth are at cross roads. Where is the massive turn around, which was promised to our brothers and sisters in PirPanjal."
