Doodhpathri: No ATM, mobile connectivity causing inconvenience to tourists, locals

BUDGAM: The tourists as well as the locals are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the non-availability of mobile connectivity and the ATM services at the famous tourist destination, Doodhpathri, in central Kashmir’s Budgam district
 The locals said that in absence of the mobile network and the ATM services, locals and tourists remain disconnected from their families during their stay.
Nazir Ahmad Dinda, a local, said that in case tourists or locals need money, they have to travel 8 kilometres. “We have taken up these two issues with concerned authorities from time to time. But unfortunately nothing has been done so far.”
Muhammad Ashraf Batty, another local, said that the tourists are getting upset due to non-availability of these services. “Due to these reasons, the tourists prefer early return from here,” he added
"Spending of more time by tourists here means more income for the locals. But that is not happening for now,” he said.
Batty said that mobile connectivity and ATM services have become essential services now the authorities must provide these services as soon as possible.
Nargis Suraiya, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Development Authority Doodhpathri said that the district administration Budgam has already taken permission from the forest department regarding the installation of the mobile tower for the Doodhpathri. It will be soon. After the installation of mobile tower, the ATM services will also be made available in the area," she added.
