Srinagar, July 19: Apni Party (AP) president, Syed Mohammad AltafBukhari Tuesday said if New Delhi wants to ease out the sufferings of common people then it shouldn’t make restoration of statehood to J&K ‘conditional’.
He asserted that a new dawn is coming and appealed to people to not lose their hope because of circumstances.
While speaking to reporters, Bukhari said restoration of statehood – which was promised to the people of J&K by the Prime Minister NarendraModi and HM Amit Shah – should not be made conditional.
“If New Delhi is willing to end the pains of Kashmiri people then it shouldn’t make restoration of statehood conditional,” Bukhari said.
He, however, hoped that whenever elections in J&K be held – sooner or later – people would elect the government of their choice.
“That government will be a government of change. Their politics will be to take both Jammu as well as Kashmir together on all matters,” he said.
The AP president said that Jammu as well as Kashmir regions currently have common concerns and sufferings from which people across the region want to come out.
“Earlier politicians of J&K used to voice up dissimilar issues and tried to create a wedge between the regions. Instead of bridging the gap, these traditional politicians left no stone unturned to divide the people and rule on their heads,” he said.
“It has been our prime demand to restore statehood to J&K. The JKAP will not give up the matter and will continue to raise this issue till it is restored and returned back,” he said.
Bukhari added that election is the first need and priority of people of Jammu and Kashmir but New Delhi unfortunately feels it is a favor to J&K. He, however, maintained that whenever elections in J&K be held, people would elect the government of their choice.
Taking dig at the BJP over retreating from promises made with the people of Jammu region in past elections, the AP president said if there is anyone who is happy it is BJP and its workers.
“BJP has miserably failed to deliver things on grassroots level. Like other parts of the country, the hollow promises of BJP also disappointed people of this region”, he asserted.
Over scrapping of recruitment processes by the incumbent government, he said congratulations should be conveyed to BJP who ruined J&K in its rule. He said people of Jammu region were of the opinion that with the rise of the BJP in J&K everything will be on track, however, all their whims have been proved a hoax.
“Today our children are on the roads. They are protesting peacefully for their job rights. The people of Jammu region have been misled and cheated by BJP,” he alleged.
Bukhari, however, appealed to people of J&K especially youth to not lose their hope as “a new dawn is coming.” “We will make BJP accountable in public,” he said.
People of J&K don’t want communal and emotional based politics in future. The people of J&K have suffered immensely in the past. Now it is over. We will not allow exploiters to play with the sentiments of gullible masses further, Bukhari maintained.
